For Patients
Sleep Investigations
Sleep studies record a wide range of information including breathing, oxygen levels, brain waves, muscle movement/tone and heart rhythm. This information is painstakingly reviewed by scientists and physicians to diagnose numerous sleep disorders.
This information is collected through transducers which are attached to the skin. This can take some getting used to and might make it more difficult to get to sleep, but it is necessary to get the best information for your treating team. Good information is key to getting the best assessment.
How to prepare for your sleep study
Wear loose comfortable clothing.
Have a shower, wash hair and wear no makeup/moisturiser. Adhesive dots are applied and need to stick to your skin.
Bring an up-to-date list of medications including dose to the study.
For in-lab studies bring medications in to take.
For in-lab studies also bring your pillow, necessary toiletries (and your CPAP gear if you have it).
Our scientists/technicians are professional and inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate termination of the study and a full private fee being charged.
Once the study is completed the data is analysed and reported. The report will be sent back to your referring doctor with independent recommendations.
